The 18-year-old Carlson is the third shortstop the Sox have selected with a first-round pick in the last five years.

With their first round pick (No. 10 overall), the White Sox selected shortstop Billy Carlson from Corona H.S. (Calif.). The 6´1´´, 185-pound prep has such a strong arm he was seen as a legit two-way player, as he also pitched for four seasons in high school.

As the White Sox continue to build toward the future, they selected Billy Carlson with the 10th overall pick in Sunday's 2025 MLB Draft. Carlson, 18, is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound shortstop from Corona High School in Corona, Calif. As a senior, he hit .365 with a .517 on-base percentage.
