NEW YORK — When Max Fried signed an 8-year, $218 million contract with the Yankees over the winter, he knew the increased responsibility that would come with the richest deal ever for a southpaw.

The lefty went on the IL at the end of the 2023 season due to a recurring blister issue on his left index finger.

With Aaron Judge, Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Max Fried already on the American League roster, Carlos Rodón was added on Friday. Rodón is actually taking the place of Fried on the active roster.
