TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma Union Station is now officially a federal building. Officials from the City of Tacoma and Washington, D.C. held a ceremony to celebrate the transfer of ownership on Wednesday.
The city of Tacoma will sell ownership of the historic Union Station to the U.S. General Services Administration for $1 as part of a decades-long lease deal.
The 137,000-square-foot Union Station, which is assessed at $50.4 million, was transferred from the city of Tacoma to the federal government in 2022.
