The Quad Cities branch of the NWS determined that at least an EF2 tornado touched down in southwest Davenport on Friday around 5 p.m., maintaining 100 to 120 mph winds for much of its 7.2-mile path into Davenport, ending near Kimberly Road.
Davenport city staff recorded damage at 18 properties during assessments on Saturday in known low-lying areas and based on a heat map of requests.
National Weather Service data shows at least two tornadoes formed in Iowa Friday. The pair of twisters touched down on opposite sides of the state. The first tornado appeared around 3:45 p.m. in a field a few miles northeast of Clarinda. No damage was reported, so the short-lived tornado was rated EF-Unknown.
