Gov. Kathy Hochul has now released two early proposals from her State of the State message that aim to address concerns over the high cost of living.

The governor's proposal would give families an annual tax credit of up to $1,000 per child under 4-years old and up to $500 per child from 4 to 16-years-old.

Hochul said she wants to provide families with an annual tax credit of up to $1,000 per child under age 4, and up to $500 per child from ages 4 through 16.

"The cost of living and raising a family is still too high," said Hochul. "We’re proposing a massive increase to put money back in the pockets of hardworking families."
