Wisconsin Battles Twin Tornadoes and 70 MPH WindsSevere storms ripped through southern Wisconsin Wednesday afternoon, spawning two confirmed tornadoes. One touched down with fierce winds of up to 70 mph, leaving damage in its wake.
It's not every day you see one of the most violent tornadoes in recent history and a historic flash flood happen just over 100 miles apart. But that was the case in Wisconsin and Illinois in July 1996.
Hustisford and Beaver Dam, both located in Dodge County, saw tornadoes briefly touch down Wednesday afternoon.

SAUK CITY, Wis. – Drone video shot Wednesday showed a tornado spinning up in Sauk City, Wisconsin. Footage showed debris being thrown 6,000 feet into the air as the twister formed and made its way across homes through the southern Wisconsin town. The tornado was one of several produced by severe storms moving through the Great Lakes region.
A confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado has been tracked near Mazomanie, Wisconsin, which is approximately 12 miles southwest of Sauk City. The twister is moving northeast at 30 mph, with radar indicating a strong rotation and significant damage potential.
