A double murder of Richard and Rita Zajko in December 2022 has been linked to the fatal shooting of a Border Patrol Agent in Vermont.

Police records show that law enforcement officials are searching for a 32-year-old woman related to the purchase of the firearms allegedly used in the killing of Border Patrol agent David Maland.

The Vermont State Police has promoted Lts. John-Paul Schmidt and Ashley "Skip" Barnes to the rank of captain in the criminal division, effective Jan. 26.
