STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Six people were taken to an area hospital from a crash on the Staten Island Expressway, New Jersey bound, during the Friday morning rush hour, according to the FDNY. Congestion also caused extensive delays in the Brooklyn-bound lanes.

A 2-year-old was rescued from a burning home on Staten Island after being found in a bed inside a smoke-filled room and being handed out a window to another firefighter, according to the FDNY.

A house fire reported in Graniteville prompted a massive FDNY response Friday afternoon. The blaze was reported on Ada Drive near Farragut Avenue at approximately 3:45 p.m., according to emergency radio transmissions.
