A social media post published late on Sunday said Chinese actor Wang Xing, also known by his stage name Xing Xing, went missing in Tak's Mae Sot district in northwestern Thailand, which borders Myanmar's Myawaddy, a city known as a hub for scam compounds.

BANGKOK: Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has confirmed that Chinese actor Xingxing, who went missing in connection with a Myanmar call-centre scam, has been found and is awaiting transfer back to Thai authorities.

The Chinese Consulate General in Chiang Mai, Thailand told the Global Times on Tuesday evening that Tak Immigration met with the Chinese actor Wang Xing who had gone missing at the Thailand-Myanmar border and is currently conducting relevant inquiries in accordance with regulations.

A Chinese actor who went missing near Thailand’s border with Myanmar has been found, Thai authorities said, as they sought to contain the fallout of the incident on the nation’s vital tourism industry.

Wang Xing, aka Xing Xing, became unreachable after he was taken to the Thai border following his arrival in Bangkok early on Friday.

Wang Xing, a Chinese actor known for his role in “Ip Man 3” and also by his stage name Xing Xing, has been reported missing in northwestern Thailand close to the Myanmar border.
