Two women have been charged with animal cruelty in Bridgewater, Massachusetts after police said two dogs died inside a hot car on Wednesday.

A sheriff's deputy has been fired after leaving a police dog in a hot car, which ultimately led to the canine's death, officials said.

A newly-deputized police dog died after being left in a hot patrol car. The K-9 named Georgia died on July 13 in Trenton, Ga. after being left in a patrol car for "an acceptable amount of time," the Dade County Sheriff's Office confirmed.
