A woman was shot and killed in the Westmont neighborhood of South Los Angeles on Thursday night, authorities said. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said deputies responded to reports of a shooting on the 1200 block of West 87th Street at about 8:53 p.m.

She’s been accused of staging her own kidnapping at a fast food restaurant, where she claims she was abducted by bounty hunters at gunpoint and held hostage in a warehouse in an effort to get her to self-deport.

The U.S. Department of Justice on Thursday announced charges against a 41-year-old undocumented mother from South Los Angeles, accusing her of orchestrating a fake kidnapping by federal immigration agents to generate sympathy and solicit donations.
