Gotterup defeated Rory McIlroy — fresh off of completing the career grand slam by winning the Masters in April — in a battle that went down to the wire. Gotterup finished at 15-under-par, two strokes better than McIlroy and six better than reigning PGA Championship winner (and N.J. native) Scottie Sheffler.
By winning his second PGA Tour title and a $1,575,000 check, Scottish Open winner Chris Gotterup jumped from 96th on the money list with barely more than $1 million to 51st with $2,586,336.
In his second season on the PGA Tour, Gotterup has already won one event and is in contention at the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open.
Golf's oldest championship returns to Royal Portrush. It's the third time the British Open has gone to the Northern Ireland links. Shane Lowry won in 2019.
